SMLE Draft Expert S23 Mock Draft
The SMLE Draft Expert has compiled his one and only mock draft. Only prospective 1st round picks have been included. Enjoy and see how many the Draft Expert nails down!
Pick | Team | Needs | Pick | Name | Remarks |
1 | Jets (from Seahawks) | Everything! | QB | Zack Mili | Brockel has the higher ceiling but Mili is the better QB. Jets secure their future by picking QB. Bucky is salivating. |
2 | Ravens | C, WR, MLB | OLB | Frank Jones | Despite signing Trent Murphy, the Ravens pick up the lightning pass rusher to compete in the AFC North |
3 | Bears | QB, OT, OLB, DE | QB | Riley Brockel | Trubisky's superstar replacement and the Bears still have a tonne of picks. Might have saved the coach's job here. |
4 | Chargers (from Jets) | LT, C, OLB, FS | LT | Jimmy D-Tardif | They need to protect an ageing Rivers blindside and Tardiff is an all around force. |
5 | Titans | DE, DT, OLB, CB | MLB | Sherard Carter | The Combine workout warrior is a luxury pick for the Titans. He has the size and strength to play any LB spot but needs to develop pass rush moves |
6 | Raiders | HB, OT, DT, S | FS | Javian Meriweather | Reggie Nelson finds his replacement, Javian Meriweather will form an electric duo with Karl Joseph for years to come. |
7 | Colts | HB, G, DE, MLB | HB | Durrel Cobb | The Colts add a reliable playmaker to the backfield to relieve some pressure on bruised & broken Andrew Luck. |
8 | Lions | G, WR, DE, S | WR | Kawai Lynch | Lynch looks like a Boldin clone and gives Stafford a reliable 3rd down target. |
9 | Seahawks (from Chargers) | OL, WR, OLB | LT | Taylor Peterson | Seahawks need help all over the line and miss out on D-Tardiff with the trade. Peterson is solid and will buy time in the pocket. |
10 | Packers | G, MLB, CB | MLB | Kazeem Burrough | Packers add a 43 LB into the mix with speed demon Burrough. Sending zone blitz will give Matthews 1on1 matchups outside too. |
11 | Dolphins | G, TE, DE | RG | Ray Colbert | Colbert keeps the Dolphins trend of bolsering the line going. He'll give Ajayi open holes and hit the second level. |
12 | Browns (from Texans) | WR, DE, FS, OLB | WR | Evander Raymond | Raymond is Calvin Johnson and the Browns just got scarier adding a HUGE deepfield threat. |
13 | Buccaneers | OT, G, DE, WR | WR | Deontae Stokes | Stokes will provide a decent rotation and is a luxury pick for Winston as the two LTs are off the board. |
14 | Bears (from Eagles) | QB, OT, OLB, DE | OLB | Dane Katzenmoyer | Katzenmoyer is a great run defender but questionable pass rush moves and motor. The Bears got a QB, now they solidify the D. |
15 | Texans (from Rams) | CB, FS, DT | DE/DT | DeMarcus Phinisee | Phinisee looked slow but he'll be asked to move to 3Tech in the new Texans 43 and that front 7 now looks fearsome. |
16 | Steelers | DT, FS, QB | S | Bradley Ali | Ali is everything you look for in a Steeler, fast, tough and hard hitting. WRs will be hearing footsteps like the Polamalu days. |
17 | Broncos | QB, TE, RT, SS | S | OC Dunn | OC Dunn isn't as flashy as Ali or Meriweather but he gets the job done and re-enforces the No Fly Zone. |
18 | Giants | QB, OL, OLB, MLB | QB | Paul Martinek | Manning is almost done and Martinek breaths new life into the Giants. But can his lack of mobility gel with the bad OL |
19 | Saints | QB, WR, DE | QB | Cedric Johnstone | Johnstone is the heir to Brees after his sudden retirement. Possessing a decent arm and good mobility he'll go to work quickly behind his good new OL |
20 | Falcons | G, DE, OLB | RG | Eduardo Compton | Falcons keep Matty Ice clean and provide a boost to an ageing OL. The running game stays effective for the stable of running backs on roster. |
21 | Redskins | G, C, OLB | C | Jackson LeBlanc | The Redskins need someone to gel the OL and LeBlanc give's a smart C to do that job. Not a sexy pick but keeping Cousins clean is the key to the playoffs. |
22 | Bears (from Jaguars) | QB, OT, OLB, DE | DE/DT | Montra Spiller | The Bears further boost the D with Spiller playing the 5tech DE. Combined with Katzenmoyer, the run defence will shine. |
23 | Cardinals | WR, TE, LT | WR | C.J. Overstreet | Overstreet isn't Fitzgerald, but who is? The superfast playmaker keeps defences from playing too close and opens up the underneath and running game. |
24 | Bills (from Chiefs) | WR, DT, OLB, CB | WR | Lewis Gordon | The Bills need someone to actually catch the ball and Gordon wins the job as a rotation receiver with the current trio in place. |
25 | Bills | WR, DT, OLB, CB | CB | Sanchez Lawson | Buffalo were mercilessly torched deep at times and with the Lawson pick he has a year to learn behind veteran Grimes. |
26 | Vikings | G, DT, SS | DE/DT | Lee Maxwell | Maxwell can play the 3tech in the Vikings 43 system and adds steady pass rush skills. |
27 | Bengals | OL, MLB, CB | CB | Jason Drakeford | Drakeford boosts a decent set of CBs and pushes them all to work for a job. The road to the superbowl means stopping the Browns pass game. |
28 | Cowboys | WR, TE, G, DT | DT | Will Burgess | Burgess instantly fixes the hole in the middle of the Cowboys front 7 but adds a decent pass rush repertoire to the already solid Run D. |
29 | 49ers | TE, DT, CB, S | CB | Tuni McMahon | 49ers pick the super-smart MBA owning McMahon to bolster their D. If the other NFC teams go WR. The 49ers counter with a lockdown DB. |
30 | Patriots | CB, SS, LT | HB | Antwan Ray | A luxury pick and the best player available for the Patriots who look to add playmakers to Brady's already well stocked arsenal. |
31 | Panthers | WR, FS, SS | WR | James Benjamen | Benjamen replaces the recently traded Funchess and allows Cam Newton to keep throwing |
32 | Browns | WR, DE, FS, OLB | FS | Henry Ashmore | The Superbowl Winning Browns got there based on their front 4 destroying the opposition OL. But the Ashmore pick means that a gaping hole deep is plugged. |

Re: SMLE Draft Expert S23 Mock Draft
I got quite a few right... Obviously not going to give away me taking MLB Rushing in the 1st... And I was considering Mormino too but great pick by [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. I think my favourite pick was SS Ali to the 49ers, so many people passed on the next hitman!
Re: SMLE Draft Expert S23 Mock Draft
I’d of taken Ali and he was set as 3rd on my draft board but the cpu decided at 16 I needed a cb which when I have future Hof er William the night train (gay) locking down Aj green twice a year was beyond me. Then doubling down on fbs later in the draft was beyond me but alas I guess this is what happens when your mrs throws fucking great spanner’s into the best planned draft preperations

Re: SMLE Draft Expert S23 Mock Draft
Hahaha, here is the actual first round summary, I got 8 right!!!!
SMLE Draft Expert Awards
Bust: Apologies to the Raiders but MLB Kazeem Burrough gets the Bust pick (go prove me wrong),
Steal: 49ers get the steal of the draft with SS Bradely Ali,
Boom: Most likely to explode in SMLE goes to Seahawks for WR Evander Raymond,
Solid: The unsung hero pick goes to Cowboys DT Will Burgess as he'll graft in the DT2 spot
Reach: Sorry Saints, you were desperate so QB Cedric Johnstone gets the nod
Daring: Most daring pick goes to Panthers OLB/DE Jack Mormino (honourable mention to the Bills)

Re: SMLE Draft Expert S23 Mock Draft
Can't believe I projected HB Durrel Cobb to the Colts at No7 and then picked him up myself in the 3rd round. Shame I can't award myself a best draft award, far too big headed (1 80, 2 78, 3 77, 1 74 plus a 97speed WR and 94THP QB, my TE pick in the 7th was meh).
Otherwise you had the best draft IMO [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], 1 80, 1 79, 2 78, 1 77, 2 75 and 1 74 plus a super fast WR and fast HB.

Re: SMLE Draft Expert S23 Mock Draft
Let's be honest here, your 5th round Tackle Castaneda has to be the pick of the draft!!!!!
The big news in Chicago today is a certain Mr Niswanger will make the team .........

Ok stop kissing ass guys, it's making me sick!
If anybody else had 17 draft picks they could too have an amazing draft. For the poor souls stuck with 7 picks, most at the tail end of each round, we have to take gambles and reach for positions of need. It's easy to go best player available when you have a pick every 5 spots. (Not bitter at all )
P.s nice write up.

Re: SMLE Draft Expert S23 Mock Draft
Bradley Taylor - RE - 4th Round selection [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Going into week 17 with 10 sacks, 23 tackles and a forced fumble. Looking to cause havoc on this defensive line come next season
Rayvon Cadogan - WR - 5th Round selection [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
He a big boy and he playing like a big boy. At 6'6, 233lbs Cadogan has contributed with 47 catches for 943 yards going into week 17 and hopes to cap off a fine rookie campaign by breaking 1000. A fantastic feat when his QB has been spreading the bll out to so many differnt weapons. Projected to go undrafted, the Jets took a chance and they have been repaid in full. The big bodied Wide Out hopes to improve on his 4 touchdowns next campaign.

Taylor Peterson - Dolphins 1st round pick, still isn't starting quality yet. Hoping for good things come season 2. Got my crossed the QB comes off slow dev....
