Re: SMLE Draft Expert S32 Mock Draft
The Remarks
Pick | Team | Remarks |
1 | Cowboys (from Dolphins) | I've held off posting the final pick until draft night... as this is going to be a shocker! The Cowboys hope to make Denton the centrepiece of the defense. Too bad the Eagles have a great OL and the Redskins drop back faster than the DT can run. This is genius or insane. |
2 | Titans | If Denton goes no1 this becomes the quickest pick of the draft again. Ragin Cajun Randy is the best player in the draft and the Titans fully move on from the Mariota era. |
3 | Bengals (from Broncos) | Surprise!! Even if Big Dick Nick is in town, the Broncos will still go QB. The Sheriff Lawson is a great athlete with crazy skills and could be the next Aaron Rodgers. |
4 | Giants | This is a NO BRAINER! McGavin turned in a legendary combine and solves the pass AND run game at the same time. The current LT can swing to RT and the Giants offense is kicking. |
5 | Dolphins (from Seahawks) | Dak to the Dolphins changed this draft landscape a lot. They traded for a kings ransom and the coach usually loves DL. This is whoever drops between Denton, Davies and Lowery. |
6 | Raiders (from Bears) | I did have MLB Wagner here but something has happened at his combine to wipe the data and he suddenly looks a risky prospect. McCann is the safer prospect right now and the Raiders need LB. |
7 | Bills | Just imagine this, one day in the future a levelled up 99 throw power QB is going to throw deep into the endzone to a 6'5 99 jump WR for 20tds in a season... I can see it. Draft Jefferson. |
8 | Ravens | Jackson is desperate for a target not named Brown and Jarret brings amazing agility and elite route running to get open every play in the Ravens run-option attack. |
9 | Saints | Some might get scared off by his latest news story but he's still an elite blocker even if he has poor development in the long run. The Saints hopefully resign Drew Brees or this could turn into a QB. |
10 | Raiders | The Raiders continue to build on D and introduce a 2nd young rusher to get to the QB. Lowery has the lower ceiling but higher floor than Davis and Al Davis would approve of this pick. |
11 | Vikings | The Vikings scored on a trade for Josh Rosen, turning his career trajectory around. They continue to shore up the OL by taking a descending Bush who swings to LT. |
12 | 49ers (from Packers) | I don't think even the Coach knows what to do with this pick. It could be Beck for a 1-2 punch but the Coach loves elite speed for a lightning-lightning attack paired up with Breida. |
13 | Broncos (from Bengals) | No, sadly I don't think the elite QB drop to the Bengals. But they do pick up an elite OL to compensate. Hodge has great potential and fits the deep bomb pass attack the Coach loves to employ. |
14 | Falcons | They lost a key linebacker to play their Tampa2 and so need to find a speedy replacement. Something funny is going on with Wagner but he's good value here and moves to ROLB. |
15 | Buccaneers | The Coach is going to hate me for once again again again mocking him a HB. But Beck is no simple HB, he's a scud-missile-meteorite-from-Hell who was sent to earth to destroy! |
16 | Steelers | Who's throwing the ball you ask? Noone quite knows yet but why not have a great new weapon for that later QB to throw to? Bird flies into the 16 spot. WR is a very thin class to expect them to move early. |
17 | Titans (from Jaguars) | The Titans could go OL or rusher but Henry is gathering attention and the Coach has to face the big play Colts and Texans each season. He needs that speed and coverage ability to shut down the pass. |
18 | Seahawks (from Cowboys) | The Seahawks have to face 3 solid passing teams in the NFC West and so this is a step for the Coach to establish his own Legion of Boom. Rutland likely moves to FS and is a deep range thumper to take away the deep shot. |
19 | Cardinals | The Cards could go OL but speedfreak Benji is too fun a project to pass up in the 34. He's not got great moves but runs a 4.5 40 and look at what the Rams did with Griffin this season. |
20 | Jets | Foley drops in the draft as he didn't post a great combine and he's not that versitile. But the Jets jettisoned Winters and Foley allows their LT to move inside. 2 birds, 1 cup. |
21 | Chargers | The Chargers need OL help and Leslie is a big man and suits the Coach's love of the outside run game. This pick could also be a developmental QB knowing how much the Coach hates “Goofy”. |
22 | Rams (from Texans) | This is the point the OL start to thin and guys will start reaching. I don't consider Tripp a reach but neither is he a gem. Decent value here to a OL hungry team. |
23 | Rams | The Rams cut Weddle as his old legs just couldn't pursue anymore. This pick could also be an OL reach here but Hill has good value here. He's not a freak athlete but plays well. |
24 | Eagles | It's a cap nightmare in Philly and Howard was left to walk in free agency. Anderson isn't quite the freak that Beck and McGriff are but he allows the Eagles to thump it behind their great OL. |
25 | Lions | No one knows what is happening with the Coach in Detroit so this pick could be a cpu one. In this case it's McDaniels dropping out the Top10 to play alongside Slay. |
26 | Rams (from Panthers) | The Rams were gutted when Talib opted to retire and so need to find a CB3. Birmingham is a falling prospect but the run on decent CBs could start about here. |
27 | Patriots | The Pats coach has been putting feelers out there for a quick user LB. Shelton isn't a full on burner but is a reliable enough LB in the run game. |
28 | Chiefs | The Chiefs could go a few different directions, OL is a reach, the WR are gone and so they pick up falling LB Brown. He's not quick but he is a decent 2 down thumper. |
29 | 49ers | Woodley has some questions about his potential but the Coach is quite loudly looking for a 1gap run stuff DT and he fits that bill. He has to face Gurley 2-3 times per year so it makes sense. |
30 | Browns | Whilst not projected in the Top50 players, SS Arnold is making noises and looks to be a great user safety in the box. He enjoys chasing and hitting and the coach knows how to get the best in coverage. |
31 | Colts | There's a trade being progressed for a safety and the Colts could go LB or rusher here, but Bishop has good value at this spot and gives the Coach flexibility at the CB3 spot in M20. |
32 | Bears (From Redskins) | If the Bears are shopping the Falsebisky then this pick could be a QB, it's a bit of a reach for the remaining QBs but the Coach needs accuracy and Nichols has that. |

Re: SMLE Draft Expert S32 Mock Draft
Draft Awards
Best Draft Texans - Drafting is a lot harder this year with the new OVR spread and guys being savvy to true talent. The Texans had a system and stuck to it. They didn't have a 1st rounder (Rams) or 3rd rounders but turned 5 2nd rounders into a full OL rebuild of 71, 70, 68, 66 ovr and the best finesse DT in the draft at 68ovr. They also landed a new RE, SS, MLB, RT, DT and FS all above 60ovr in the later rounds. Their 59ovr MLB was the only sub60 pick in the 6th round but even he has 85speed, 81agi, 82acc and 69catch. With a rookie contract QB heading to a big payday and lots of stars already on the roster, the Texans needed to build depth to last all of M20 and they did just that. There was a bit of panic after UDFA OL started going in the 1st round but they stuck to the plan and I love what they did despite every player being normal dev.
Worse Draft Cowboys - I could be eating my hat in a few seasons when the franchise wins a Superbowl but right now the Cowboys used 5 1st rounders, 2 2nd rounders and 2 3rd rounders for a 78ovr Superstar DT, 67ovr Star QB, 58ovr Normal SS and 56ovr Normal LB. That's a lot of draft resources for a starter, backup and 2 practice squad members. On draft value the picks given up could've turned into 5 72ovr+ 2 70ovr and 2 65ovr players.
Most Likely to Boom - HB Beck 74 Superstar, McGriff 76 Star and Anderson 76 Star - The Eagles landed the freak darling in Beck, the Steelers picked up 95spd McGriff and the 49ers stole 86truck Anderson. It's a cheat to pick all 3 but all 3 landed with teams who like (and more importantly) know how to run. The Eagles need to control the Cowboys and Redskins, the Steelers need to run rings on the Browns and Ravens and the 49ers face Aaron Donald but these 3 freaks allow each team to do that. Great picks.
Most Likely to Bust - WR Clinton Jarret, 74ovr, Star - The Rams picked up the super nimble athlete Jarret at Pick22 from the Texans as a panic pick after the top OL and safeties were off the board. He's not a bad player with 94agi 93acc and decent abilities, it's just that he's currently 5th on the depth chart behind Cooks, Woods, Kupp and Reynolds (who are all also star dev and better pure catchers).
Steal of the Draft - QB Ragin' Cajun Randy Loiseau, 78ovr, Superstar - The Titans did in fact make the fastest pick in the draft as soon as they saw Ragin' Randy on the board at No2. This is a mega steal as they thought they were done once the draft order was announced, then the Dolphins traded back and then the Cowboys went full draft day with their "I think he's gonna be a bust" move. Congrats LT for securing your franchise in M20 at a bargain cost.
Reach of the Draft - FB David Tomlinson, 72ovr, Normal - The Vikings picked a Fullback with the 2nd pick of the 2nd round... a Fullback. He's age 23 so not a killer on development but the only way FB progress is by making the Probowl so the Vikings now need to go 15-1. He's not a bad player with 88 lead block (very important for I-Form close stretch) and 85str with 84 trucking, its just that it was a fullback with 2 star TE and 2 ace WR on the roster.
Solid Pick - HB Velvario Levine, 70ovr, Superstar - The Broncos had a great pickup of Levine in the 3rd round as a spell back. He was gaining traction in the draft with a 1st projection and a good story, so when the Broncos snagged the 91acc 93agi back here it was one of the best value picks of the draft and he'll be a solid contributor all M20.
Daring Pick - DT Sergio Denton, 78ovr, Superstar - The Cowboys traded a decent (now superstar) CB and a star dev RT for a 1st, then turned 2 1sts and a 2nd into no5, then turned Dak into pick 33, then sent 3 1sts to the Dolphins for the No1 pick.... and picked an 82 power move DT. This pick started as a joke on the mock draft, the Dolphins always wanted Thurman Davis but knew it was a bit of a reach at no1, they told the SMLE Draft Expert this so he mocked Sergio Denton no1 to hide the true pick and set a market for the Dolphins. When the Cowboys saw the mock they panicked and traded their future away for a player who would've been there at 5 (Davis, Randy, Lawson, McGavin, Denton was always the locked order). The only reason this isn't the reach of the draft is the fact that Denton is still a good player... and the Vikings.
Best Draft Texans - Drafting is a lot harder this year with the new OVR spread and guys being savvy to true talent. The Texans had a system and stuck to it. Bump for the update, it was a tough one to do with all the QB situations, trades and rumours.

Re: SMLE Draft Expert S32 Mock Draft
Post Cowboys Trade Remarks
Pick | Team | Remarks |
1 | Cowboys (from Dolphins) | There's a chance this pick isn't Ragin Cajun Randy...but it cost a superstar CB, star RT (cardinals pick) and 3 drafts of 1st and 2nd round picks. This level of commitment should be for the Franchise guy... but the Coach has his scheme. |
2 | Titans | I'm hearing rumours that the Titans are happy with Cousins and not fully sold on the Sheriff. This could start a free fall and instead the Titans pick up one of the elite defenders. Lowery has the better film and combine. |
3 | Broncos | If they stay 34 then Denton moves to RE and becomes the next Calais Campbell. It makes this D an absolute wrecking ball to rival the Bears D. It could be the Sheriff too but Big Dick Nick is now in town... |
10 | Raiders | The Raiders were hoping for a rusher here but the top prospects are all gone, instead they go inside OL. Whilst Hodge isn't a great scheme fit with the run heavy coach, he's got great potential and can be trained up. |
13 | Bengals | If Lawson makes it past picks 2 and 3 it could be a freefall right into the Bengals laps! The Sheriff doesn't make it past the Bucs or Steelers and they move on from the Red Rifle. |
14 | Falcons | They lost a key linebacker to play their Tampa2 and so need to find a speedy replacement. Something funny is going on with Wagner but he's good value here and moves to ROLB. |
15 | Buccaneers | The Coach is going to hate me for once again mocking him a HB. But Beck is no simple HB, he's a skud-missile-meteorite from Hell who was sent to earth to destroy! |
16 | Steelers | Who's throwing the ball you ask? Noone quite knows yet but why not have a great new weapon for that later QB to throw to? Bird flies into the 16 spot. If the Bucs skip the Sheriff then this pick is Lawson. |
17 | Titans (from Jaguars) | They sorted the edge rush out but could still do with a MLB but the Titans go OT with Foley. He can play both sides buying time for Cousins and provides great strength in the run game. |
18 | Seahawks (from Cowboys) | The Seahawks have to face 3 solid passing teams in the NFC West and so this is a step for the Coach to establish his own Legion of Boom. Rutland likely moves to FS and is a deep range thumper to take away the deep shot. |
19 | Cardinals | Pat Pete is gone and the Cards were skillful in their acquisition and development of Brown, but this is a 3 CB league and so they grab the best and fastest CB in the draft. |
20 | Jets | The Jets will be hungry for OL but speedfreak Benji is too fun a project to pass up in the 34. He's not got great moves but runs a 4.5 40 and look at what the Rams did with Griffin this season. |

I was bang on exactly for the first 6 picks (including my spreadsheet guessing their OVR correctly) and I got Raiders at 10 and then it went to shit hahahaha
7 correct guesses, it's as good as the top pros!
