Re: M19 Drafted Rookie All-53 Team

POS | SMLE Draft Expert |
QB1 | Frank Corliss was mocked to the Dolphins as soon as the rumours started circling about the hire of Coach Hiero. And he didn't dissapoint, the Strong Arm bomber fit the coach's system perfectly and they went on to win a superbowl! |
QB2 | The Jaguars had a huge game day trade lined up for "Bootleg" Bundren but then a few teams inexplicable skipped on the QB so the Jags stayed put and took him at No6. He did well for Coach Zill until he left for the Cowboys. |
QB3 | It was a close call between Haggerty and Bramlet, both won ROTY but Bramlet had an overall better tenure as part of the annual Bears sacrifice of the Falsebisky. Bramlet allowed Coach Bish to actually pass the ball for once! |
HB1 | There are many Colts steals in this team and here is the first. Russell was projected as the top HB in the draft and Coach Ghetto snagged him during his freefall. He was a key cog in the Season 30 Superbowl win! |
HB2 | Like a lot of HBs that year, Wootten dropped in value and was picked up in the 2nd as a Superstar powerback. The Raiders didn't run as often as they should have but when he did he was a brutal runner. |
HB3 | Coach Daf always had a nose for a steal, and they usually worked out right as apparent by a superstar loaded Texans team. Hardwick was a 3d HB with outside skills and again, a steal as he was in freefall during the draft. |
FB | Everyone was shocked to see Laury free at the 1st pick of the 4th round, a slow TE who couldn't catch was a poor projection as a 1st rounder, but the Panthers snagged the superstar player and moved him to FB where he dominated. |
WR1 | Every year there is a Calvin Johnson clone that Coach Fraser drools over, and this year Coach Hakeem snagged him. Farrington Fisher was a beast who couldn't be stopped once the ball was in the air! |
WR2 | Nevin Woodson was a sneaky good pick by the Eagles Coach Brza, he didn't overly astound in game highlights but continually put up the best stats each season as a 1-2 with Alshon Jeffery. |
WR3 | Another steal by Coach Daf, Turk dropped into the middle of the 1st round and was not the first WR off the board. The WR formed an amazing 1-2 punch with Hopkins and allowed Josh Allen to thrive post Watson trade. |
WR4 | The year after the Jets took WR Fisher, they doubled down on an insane WR corp with super-speedster Young. If Fisher wasn't catching the ball over the middle then it was flying to Young on a go-route TD. |
WR5 | The Browns developed well under Coach Para despite a slow start due to absence. Woodbury was an understated no1 WR for Baker Mayfield who constantly made catches. |
WR6 | The Polish WR was drafted by the Ravens and cut following a PR fumble, the Redskins picked him up off waivers but it wasn't until Coach Fraser signed him to the Chiefs that he became a big play nightmare. |
TE1 | The start of the trio of the legendary TE class, Angel Diaz was the solid catcher of the bunch and suited Coach Andre's style of run-run-stick who then went on to 2 Superbowls, winning the final one. |
TE2 | The 2nd of the trio, Rashaad Daniels was the athlete who could go get the ball. By the time Fisher and Young were in town, Daniels was undertargetted but offered a great triple threat option for Sam Darnold. |
TE3 | The final trio, Coach ET replaced Jason Witton immediately with the great but slow route runner in Cromartie. He won 2 superbowls under Coach ET and went to a 3rd under Coach Zill. |
LT1 | The Bears got Bramlet and then needed to protect him with the growing Packers pass rush. Rose was part of the reason Bramlet made this list as he wasn't often sacked. |
LT2 | Mack moved about the line a fair bit but Coach Bartell got the best out of the OL. The 49er-Rams games were fierce with the Rams brining elite pass rush, but the 49ers often took the W, in part because of the blocking for QB Jackson. |
LG1 | The Chargers never fully moved on after Phillip Rivers retirement, but their success was down to a great run game and playmakers surrounding a cast of average QBs. Will Dye is a reason why the Chargers stayed competitive. |
LG2 | A rare Bills player chosen by the CPU in the pre Coach Galby years. Briggs was a solid blocker and allowed Coach Galby to chuck it deep with QB Watson. He didn't do much in the run game, but the Bills were rarely running. |
C1 | A steal of an OL in the first draft, there was huge demand for OL this Madden and Sherrell dropped to pick19 where he developed into a high level superstar C for Coach X and then Coach Ratamania. |
C2 | The Browns have quite a few quietly good players on here, Naanee wasn't heralded by trumpets in the draft like Sherell was, but had sneaky good potential and developed well for Coach Para. |
RG1 | Reiff was part of the Coach Dean Raiders rebuild moving on from the Defense orientated Coach Readie. Reiff blew up holes for HB Bennett and allowed QB Rosen to hit the TE corner or WR long slant every down. |
RG2 | Coach Ivan originally refused the advice of the SMLE Draft expert in taking Turenne and was disappointed he was "only" quick dev. Turenne quickly replaced LG Nelson in the Jaguars trade and paved the way to Superbowl 30. |
RT1 | Everyone was drooling over an OT with 80+ speed at the Combine. Coach Para stuck to his no4 pick instead of trading to the Jags and landed the monster RT with Star Dev! |
RT2 | The Lone Cardinals player on this list but a very important one, RT Mahaffey was a bit of a reach but developed well under Coach Azza. The reason for the pick, an Aaron Donald 9 sack game but once drafted Donald never hit that level again. |
POS | SMLE Draft Expert |
LE1 | Paymah was a high draft pick to an unknown coach. It turns out the super aggressive Coach Petihun took him to another level and record breaking rookie sack numbers. Just the false starts lost him as many games as the sacks won him. |
LE2 | Coach Hiero is as famous for his LBs and Rushers as much as he is for his QBs. Robertson was a no-name speedster until the Dolphins coached him into a nightmare speed rusher and big contributor to getting to Superbowl 28. |
DT1 | The Colts had holes all along the DL until Onatolu was picked up. The super fast, super strong, hard hitting DT set the tone for the Colts and was effectively moved around by Coach Ghetto as DT and DE. |
DT2 | The Rams were used to picking mid-20s each year, and then a B+ finesse move DT dropped to them! He was quickly superstar dev and part of the elite DL of Donald-Brockers-Spencer-Houston-Ebukam for Coach Mattanite. |
DT3 | Cobb was a close pick after Spencer above, and the Eagles turned the 34-5tech into a great run stuffing 43-3tech. Coach Brza has a reputation for getting unlucky with division opponents but Cobb helped lockdown Zeke the Freak. |
DT4 | The first of the Packers defenders on this list. Coach Fazak did an amazing job drafting defenders and Pellerin was great in the 34 and then the 43. |
RE1 | Coleman was a mid round draft pick by Coach Readie and did okkkk in the 34 at OLB but really took off when Coach Dean moved to a 43 and partnered up with Khalil Mack at DE. |
RE2 | Burns was only a backup DE and nickelDT for his career with the Browns but developed exceptionally well under Coach Para who moved him about to maximise his potential. |
SLB1 | Peck was one of the first draft back to back picks by Coach Fazak and one of many Packers defenders on this list that got them to Superbowl 31. He was quick and did well in the 34 but really thrived after the move to the 43. |
SLB2 | Ingram was a bit of enigma, drafted to play LB in the Panthers 43 despite being an obvious pass rusher, he was chasing DROTY and then moved to DE by Coach Revelin where he then performed in a role he suited. |
MLB1 | Madden was a Madden player, fast, strong and a great user defender. The first pick by Coach Readie and a great one under both him and Coach Dean. He moved to 43olb later on but still dominated. |
MLB2 | The Raiders doubled down on the MLB spot under Coach Readie. Both were set to play in the 34 and then Blackwell stayed at MLB under Coach Dean. An elite level MLB who was part of the double trouble user D. |
MLB3 | It wouldn't be right if there wasn't a Redskins developmental LB on this list each year. Sowell was a good speedy pick by Coach Vinay, despite the lack of burst. |
WLB1 | A later draft pick but a great one at No3 by Coach Daf. He moved to 34olb and took some time to develop but Coach Gonz saw him turn into a elite pass rusher and a reason why the Texans continued their playoff traditions. |
WLB2 | Tank Payne was one of the best names in all the draft classes and went in the 1st to the Giants Coach Chap. The Giants struggled with several losing seasons and a mediocre offense but the defense looked a lot better for this pick. |
CB1 | A controversial pick at No1 but George was the second coming of Deon Sanders and proved it turning the Panthers D into a lockdown unit for Coach Revelin and then the CPU. |
CB2 | Hahaha, once again I'm going to write about how the Browns had another sneaky good under the radar draft pick but Coach Para did it again, a sneaky good CB! |
CB5 | Acey Benson was electric. In his first game alone he had 2 KR TDs under Coach Fraser. He was built like a Coach Fraser player (secretly Al Davis long lost son) as the best athlete in all the drafted players. |
CB4 | DeLoach didn't appear to do much in his first season but by the time Superbowl 29 came about, DeLoach had become a great DB for Coach Kinghun and part of the well rebuilt Bucs secondary. |
CB5 | How many Colts players???? Coach Ghetto once again steals the show with a fantastic pick of CB Blair, do I need to mention how all these drafted players led to the best M19 team rebuild and a reason he won Superbowl 30? |
FS1 | Who can forget the lockdown safeties of Gates and James for Coach Yabbas. No one could throw deep on him, and the CBs only made things worse. Part of a fantastic defensive rebuild for the Chargers. |
FS2 | Hurst was a late round pick and many viewed the safety as a bust who'd get abused in coverage, but Coach Kinghun worked and worked and worked on him until he developed into an exceptionally cerebral zone safety. |
FS3 | Gholston was a great pick in the later drafts and didn't have quite enough seasons to showcase his talents. Coach Ratamania was very competitive because the D kept him in games while he ran the ball to oblivion. |
SS1 | The back to back picks in draft one by Coach Fazak defined the Packers defensive rebuild. Phillips was a rangey lockdown zone safety and allowed the coach to transend the SMLE ranks. |
SS2 | Another first draft steal by Coach Ivan. All the coaches ignored the draft story and focussed on the bad grades, but the Colts stole him in the 2nd and were rewarded with a star SS. |
K | Coach ET took Novak as a quick dev steal after the Rams drafted the less good K a few spots before. He didn't disappoint and was laser accurate through 3 seasons under ET and Coach Zill. |
P | It's never a glamour position but the best punter of the class usually rises up (like the previous winner, the flowing-haired Colin Jenson), he steadily honed his craft and did well for Coach Adam. |
POS | SMLE Draft Expert |
PS QB | It was a close but Haggerty just didn't have the resume after a one-and-done season by Coach Vinay. Great ROTY season but then easily shutdown once the coach left and everyone knew the deep bomb was coming. |
PS HB | Who even drafted this guy??! No one knows!!! But the superstar HB developed from a nobody to a bit of a superstar somebody as a UDFA under Coach Para. He did Ok but injured a lot under Coach Fraser, so doesn't quite crack the list. |
PS WR | The Bills under Coach Galby inexplicably cut Simmons at WR despite being a 3rd rounder and the Rams picked him up as a Go-route specialist for Coach Mattanite, the Goff-Cooks deep bomb was already strong enough! |
PS OT | Another Rams "almost" pick, Jared Bass was a 3rd round projection picked in the 1st in heavy OL demand years but performed well enough with the Rams OL rebuild (8no 1st-3rd round OL in 5 seasons). |
PS G/C | Coach Fraser always picks the best named guys, and the Chiefs got "Lucky" with…er…well… Lucky. A decent inside OL but the Chiefs couldn't quite buy enough time for the Mahomes deep bomb at times. |
PS DL | Jack Bergen sounds like an action hero and did well at times under Coach Fraser but not consistent in his early years or sack numbers to crack the 53. Still a great player by the end. |
PS Rush | Waters was a great pick by Coach Lars but due to the Titans always fighting a losing high score, he never did get the chance to get those sacks he was capable of. |
PS LB | McCray was an eagles steal under Coach Brza. He was meant to be the "strongest man in football" but sadly rocked up to the combine with ~70 strength. He had enough speed to be a great user defender though. |
PS CB | Spence was a super agile pickup who regularly had to cover great WR against Coach Bartell and Coach Mattanite. But Coach Petihun got the best out of him lining him up against the no2 WR. |
PS S | Heeney would've been great if Coach Couger didn't retire. Selected in the 2nd and getting DROTY honours boosted his development as a user hybrid safety, but he soon got lost in the depth chart without those user skills. |
