Season 11 Half Scoop Awards
SCOOP'S SEASON 11 MIDSEASON HALF SCOOP AWARDS
It's a whole new ballgame!
At the midway point of SML Europe Season 11 we see new faces (8 Rookie Coaches), old coaches in new places (Pastinator's annual new team among others) and some things that never change (Brza coaching the Eagles, MeisterEder's Vikes atop the Power Rankings and LT downright frustrated with his Music City Mites).
Let's take a look at the stories that are unfolding so far this season and then I'll hand out the highly coveted Half Scoop Awards.
Coach Eternal, left Dallas this offseason with a tear in one eye and a smile. He brought his childhood favorite Cowboys to the verge of a Superbowl berth the past two seasons but couldn't get over the hump. Jerruh in a "shocking" move of impatience, decided to oust the successful coach because of his lack of SB victories saying, "It was bad enough that he didn't win a Superbowl in his first season but back-to-back seasons without a Superbowl is just unacceptable!" Seattle happily welcomed Eternal in though. The Coach was also happy to have more talent to work with and he's got the Hawks flying high. At the midway point they've blown out everyone and remain an undefeated 7-0. The Hawks seem to be the favorites for the SML title so far but you can never count out the Vikings with Coach MeisterEder at the helm. And the NY Giants lead by Coach EagleWolfenstein, who has Eli looking like Peyton, could be a darkhorse candidate to challenge in the NFC.
One surprise in the AFC are the Sputino led Browns. Sputino couldn't get his Chargers to fire on all cylinders in his previous stint there but he's got the Browns performing like a well-oiled machine. They are tied with Coach Warrior's Bengals for the lead in the AFC North and are headed for an epic showdown in next week's Monday Night Football matchup on

I predict the winner of the North could very well represent the AFC in Superbowl XI this year. That is if they aren't completely depleted after battling each other six times this season. For that reason, I'd keep an eye on Pastinator and the Colts who have a much easier road to the playoffs or Coach Crigby's Chargers who have managed to win while Philip Rivers was on the mend.
Now onto the Half Scoop's, my prestigious midseason top performer awards per position:
QB -Vikings- Teddy "Somethings in the" Bridgewater - A rookie QB showing up the likes of Manning (the good one), Brady, Brees and Mr. Discount Double Check? No one would have guessed it but there's obviously something in the water in the Land of 1000 Lakes. Adrian Peterson has proved it for years. Now Bridgewater has surprised all and is on pace for a 5000 44 8 season as a rookie with a whopping 10.7 average per attempt.
RB –Seahawks- Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch – He's leading the league in rushing yards (897) and TDs (10) and most importantly has helped Seattle remain the only undefeated team after 7 games. Its raining Skittles in Seattle!
WR –Cowboys- Dez “Give Me the Damn Ball” Bryant – At the halfway point of the season this guy's already eclipsed the 1000 yards and 60 catches!! Dez never learned to share as a child. At this pace he won't have to share offensive PoY honors either. But if he keeps bullying poor Romo to give him the ball and no supporting cast forms that opposing DCs will need to worry about Dez's 'Boys may not be able to crawl out of the NFC East cellar.
TE –Titans- Delanie “Sky” Walker – After years of playing second fiddle to "Burnin" Vernon Davis in San Fran, Walker seems to have finally made a name for himself in Tennessee at the ripe old age of 30 as he ranks fifth in receiving yards; tops amongst TEs. His team seems to get better with age too as the Titans are on a 3 game winning streak after an 0-5 start.
O-Line -None- Seriously, a Half Scoop ain't gonna satisfy these 350 Pound Behemoths. I'll get to the big guys when I can afford some buckets of ice cream.
Pass Rusher –Bills- "Super" Mario Williams – Super Mario has 20 count them 20 SACKS in just 8 games!! And he's done that despite an early coaching change. Half of his sacks were racked up under Coach Sharky but after Sharky moved north for the winter to New England Super Mario has continued plugging along at his torrid pace. A word of advice if you play the Bills this year, keep an extra blocker in on Mario's side or risk a hospital visit for your QB.
300-Pound Clubber –Browns- Des “With an S not a Z” Bryant – Yes, Dez/s Bryant is so good that when he's not hogging the ball on O he's gaining 100 lbs. and gobbling up QBs and RBs on Defense. Or maybe its another guy with the same name. Either way the fat Des/z Bryant on the Browns is among the league leaders in Sacks and Forced Fumbles while taking on more double teams than those naughty nurses on the world wide interwebs.
LB –Bears- DJ "Big Willie" Williams - Does anybody say "gettin Jiggy wit it?" anymore? Ok lousy nickname but DJ has been BIG on the field for his Bears. He's 4th in the league in tackles and tied for second in INTs. Basically if there's a play to be made on defense in Chicago, he's most likely the one making it.
DB –Seahawks- Kam “Bam, Thank You Mam" Chancellor – Sherman and ET-3 get all the attention in the Legion of Boom but so far Kam should be the most feared man of the furious foursome. He's got 4 INTs tying him for second place in the league but he's also bringing the heat as he has 4 sacks as well. And if you're unlucky enough to catch the ball in his vicinity watch out because Kam apparently put the "am" in "Bam" too.
Half Scoop Overachiever Award -Washington- Duke "He a Nacho" Ihenacho - the third year player wasn't sure if he'd make the team let alone start this season. He earned the starting job this summer and hasn't looked back. Despite being rated just 69 OVR he's tied for second in INTs with 4 and is laying people out in the run game with 2 forced fumbles to boot. Coach Brunty credits Nacho as one of the driving forces behind the defensive turnaround and Washington's 5-3 record.
So thats where we stand at the halfway point. But the action is just starting to heat up...
