NFL teams' version christmas day!
So, its Xmas day in the NFl - who will get exactly what they want, like the Colts with Luck. Who will get what they want but a diff player i.e. Broncos want DT Poe but could get Worthy - and who will unwrap their parcel and scream "i dont want that".
Any draft day thoughts?
Little joke for y'all:-
You're trapped in a room with a Grizzly bear, a crocodile and a Patriots fan. Your gun only has 2 bullets - what should you do?
Shoot the Pats fan twice!

Re: NFL teams' version christmas day!
I'm happy the Eagles got their man. I was telling Bish yesterday before the draft the Birds had 3 options:
1. Stay at 15 and draft LB Luke Kuechly if he dropped out of the top 10
2. Move up if DT Fletcher Cox made it past 7
3. If both were gone drop down to the late 20s and get TE Coby Fleener
I'm also glad the Eagles only had to give up a 4th and 6th to move up. They still have 2 early 2nd rounders and a 3rd to add a nickel CB, SAM LB and either big TE or WR.
I'm hoping for CB Brandon Boykin and either TE Coby Fleener, WR Stephen Hill or LB Bobby Wagner in the second round tonight.
How about you guys? How did your teams do?

Titans got what they need... They needed a cornerback and get a reciever so everything is ok

Re: NFL teams' version christmas day!
There weren't any first round quality CBs left when the Titans were on the clock. They would have had to move up to 16 to get Kirkpatrick before the Bengals but it probably would have costed alot.
There are some good CBs left though in the 2nd round. Janoris Jenkins is available with 1st Round talent but likes to smoke weed and spread his seed so too risky in the 1st. Brandon Boykin, but he'll get picked by the Eagles hopefully, and Trumaine Johnson are still avilable too.

brza: are you happy with cox? I was hoping he would slip to the rams. Not sure what to think about brockers.
The 2nd round will make or break the rams but they should come away with some talent. I am hoping for jenkins cb, cordy glenn g/t and either of ruben randle wr or stephen hill wr

Re: NFL teams' version christmas day!
I wouldn't be surprised if someone gambles on Stephen Hill early in the 2nd - too risky for 1st (like Jenkins) but a potential star for whoever's lucky enough to get him.
I like the Bears strategy under new GM Phil Emery - take the low round picks first, and the seriously talented guys in the 5th-7th rounds - genius!!!!!

Re: NFL teams' version christmas day!
jensua: Cox was a great pick in my opinion. Before the draft I was hoping the Eagles would land him or Kuechly. I thought that the Rams would definitely draft him if they couldn't get Blackmon.
Mayock is imo the best draft expert and talent analyst out there and he had Cox as his number one defensive linemen all along. I think at the end he even ranked him ahead of Claiborne to be the top defensive prospect. I was surprised to see him drop to 12 so it was a great value for us. 3rd down pass rush with Cole, Cox, Jenkins and Babin will be killer next year.
By the way, I can't believe the Rams let the Cowboys get a stud CB for only the 14th pick and a 2nd. I'm pretty disappointed about that.
Bish: I heard Shea moved up draft boards pretty fast over the last two weeks. I don't know why but his film does look good. Most people were projecting him to the first round but I think more as a DE or 3-4 OLB. He seems at his best when going after the QB so I wonder how he'll fit in as SAM in the Bears' scheme that, correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't blitz much.

Re: NFL teams' version christmas day!
regarding claiborne, I am not so sure after reading some of the reactions, he seems to have som "red lights". Anyway the rams did not like him. I guess they are going to play press more than cover which really is what claibourne is good at.
I would have liked for them to pick up a bit more but a 2nd rounder is still going to start from day one on the rams. So all in all trading down from the number 2 spot wil should yield the rams "solid" 4 starters this year. That in itself is pretty solid and remember to add in the additional 2 1st rounders in ´13 and ´14...

Re: NFL teams' version christmas day!
Weird about Shea - Bears are saying (after last nights comments about playing SAM???) that he will start at LE in the rotation with Pep and Idonije!
Question for all - cananyone predict a big star to go lower than the 3rd rnd?

Re: NFL teams' version christmas day!
You're right Jensua, the Rams do need as many picks as they can get so moving down again and getting another second probably was a good move. I just don't like the fact that they helped the Cowboys and I don't think Brockers will be an impact player.
What do you mean Bish? Do you mean predict a college star who will fall lower than the 3rd round? Or a player that will be picked after the third round and develop into an NFL star?

Cowboys got the "Clai-Maker" lol
At times you've gotta love Jerry world.
Not need to find a team wanting to trade for Mike Jenkins and use whatever we get to try and get back a 2nd round pick.

Re: NFL teams' version christmas day!
Its looking better.
If Carr and Claiborne play as good as advertised then our defense could be immense. Still need some pass rush on the d-line though.
Got the weapons on offense with Romo, Miles, Dez, Witten and Murray but the big question mark is with the line. 2 draftees from last year i'm hoping i'm step up. We also brought in 2 other guards in FA but one of them only started 2 games and the other was rated as one of the worst lineman in the league.
Tyron Smith is also gonna be tested as he is making the switch to LT.

Yes. Definitely.jensua wrote:chimpy do you feel that the boys got the better end of the deal on day one?
The Rams wanted an extra pick. Asked for a 4th then a 5th, 6th etc... Mini Jerry (Stephan) just kept on saying no though and the Rams caved in. If you look at all these draft grade charts, we should have lost at least 1 more pick.
This team had loads of holes coming into the draft and that 2nd round pick would have been massive. But to lose that pick for the best defensive player in the draft who just happens to be a CB... I'd take that deal any day of the week.

Re: NFL teams' version christmas day!
i read somewhere that according to the old value chart that the boys value was 50 points below the rams. The rams got rb pead for the boys pick. fills a big need. change of pace back to sjax.
but i think the main issue was that the rams did not like the value of the players availiable at no 6 after blackmon and trent richardson was taken... claiborne does not fit the rams/jeff fisher d. they will play press alot and claiborne is a cover corner
