MNF - 49ers @ Rams
MNF GOES OFF WITH A BANG AS RAMS TOP NINERS IN HISTORIC OPENER
The inaugural SML broadcast of MNF was screened for the first time last night live from the Edward Jones Dome in St Louis. The historic occasion went off without a hitch apart from some early match lag as viewers were able for the first time ever to watch fellow HC's strutting their stuff in a meaningful contest.
There had been a buzz in the air since the MNF schedule was announced by Commissioner Brza on Sunday morning at League Headquarters. The choice of Notorious's Rams and BigJim's Forty-Niners was made as the opener due to both coaches being long standing members of Madden Online Leagues - and what a ruck it turned out to be.
The game's MVP Robert Quinn (4 sacks) decided to showboat from the first qtr, nailing 9ers QB Colin Kaepernick early and often proving the Prime Time attention just makes the top players elevate their game.
As expected, the game was a defensive battle as both coaches tried to outsmart each other with a variety of blitzes and defensive alignments, effectively making this a spectacular watch on the D side of the ball. There were so many big performers, James Laurinaitis led the Rams with 5 tackles and young CB Janoris Jenkins came up with 2 picks, the second being the game sealer as the 9ers threatened to take it to overtime inside the last 2 minutes.
For San Francisco, Donte Whitner and the linebacking crew contained the Rams option offense and Carlos Rogers came up with an INT to take the game to the wire. Neither offense could move the ball well, unsurprisingly with this array of defensive talent and the hits came thick and fast, with Coach Notorious managing to keep Kaep & Co out of the endzone for the first time this season by smothering receivers with a cocktail of man coverage and a heavy dose of Mr Quinn.
St Louis ran out 10-3 victors but the real winners were the viewers, seeing for the first time how their peers run things live as it happened.
Congratulations to both HC's for putting on a gritty performance under the floodlights, believe me, the pressure is considerably cranked up when you're on Prime Time.
In other news this week:-
Kansas City and Dallas had easy wins against NYG and the Bolts respectively, while T-Rich ground out a win as the 4-0 Colts managed to hold off a spirited Chad Henne led cpu Jags.
Various HC's will be joining up with their new teams within the week, and rumours the Bishbosh led Bears will likely be re-united soon after.
Trade Rumours:-
Can it be true? Early season trades in the SML? Of course it is!
News reaches me the Tennessee Titans are looking for a safety as Bernard Pollard is not impressing reigning SB Coach LTown with his running in quicksand style.
I also hear the Packers are considering LB reinforcements.

It was an honour to be involved in the inaugural SML MNF game and I look forward to watching others playing under the lights on Monday night.

It was fun to watch - it's great watching other guys play. Will get even more intense for games towards end of season with playoffs at stake - and of course the playoffs themselves.
Great stuff!

Great report and great to be part of it! Played 1 under the lights, scored 0 TD's and lost - it can only get better ;-)
