MNF - FNL Vikings @ Cowboys
THEY ALL FEAR THE VIKINGS NOW
The Minnesota Vikings made a statement of intent Friday evening as they waltzed into Dallas and handed the impressive Cowboys their first defeat of the season.
Twinkle Toes Adrian Peterson was the lead destroyer in a convincing 38-21 victory
in a game of high quality as a record number of viewers tuned in to the season's biggest game so far.
This match-up was always going to be about gameplan execution and HC Eder's defensive scheme proved too much for the high octane Cowboy offense, mixing zone, man and press to excellent effect and by the time Dallas HC Eternal had worked it out the game was already lost.
Jeff Demps and Jason Witten have been outstanding for Dallas this season and both men had fine games against Minnesota, but both eclipsed by Mr Peterson in a game of few mistakes as Coach Eternal found out why the Vikings are the team to beat this season. Twitch viewers were transfixed as the game unfolded and at 7-7 with one quarter in the books it was clear we were witnessing two of the SML's finest, not to mention number 28 further adding to his already astonishing legend.
In the 3rd Dallas trailed by 7 but we all kind of knew it was not the Cowboys day when rookie Minnesota WR Cordarelle Patterson somehow pancaked DB's Barry Church AND Morris Claiborne to spring AP for a score and maintain the winning lead.
I bet on a Dallas win, but like so many others came unstuck as i waved my $3 away - although my prediction of Demps fumbling should have happened when safety Harrison Smith nailed the Dallas mini-back who somehow managed to hold on to the rock, even though he didn't know what day it was.
So we now know who the Superbowl favourites are, and the pretenders will all need to overcome the purple aura when faced with Eder's elite team. The Vikes D is weak? - piffle! The Vikes haven't adjusted to PS4? - poppycock! The Vikes will take some beating, make no mistake about that.
It may be small consolation to the Cowboys, but with a few breaks this would have been different. And if Adrian Peterson ever gets injured, it will be different for sure.
But for now, The SML only have 'If's' to cling on to.
