JETS FLY ON OFFENSE; CRASH LAND ON D

The NY Jets slumped to an opening day defeat at the hands of divisional rivals Buffalo Bills ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]).
"The scoreboard, whilst disappointing on the face of it, does not show an accurate reflection of the game." States HC Tucker.
"There were a lot of positives and we made the game close, up until the last few minutes, where the desperation from the boys trying to get the ball back caused a lot of missed tackles and as a result, the RB ran for 150 yards in 5 plays. This won't happen again, but I wont apologise for the lads trying to do anything to save a win. I don't expect it to happen again though as they have learned from this hopefully and will come back stronger"

Tight End Bucky Hodges can feel aggrieved to have not won POTW honours, with that award going to Isiah Crowell of the Browns. The rookie TE had a monster game with 206 yards fro 2 TDs. Rookie QB Kyle Sloter had a mixed game however. It is difficult to suggest a player could have done better when they account for a total of 446 yards and 3 touchdowns (23/41 for 392 + 54 rush yards). But with 5 picks and some big missed plays that stat line could have looked like he was playing Madden on rookie!

The Jets face the Oakland Raiders ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]) this week in what seems a hard to call game. It could be like the previous week, where the numbers are off the chart. Or it could finish 9-6 with only FGs occurring. The Jets boast one of the premier offenses after week 1 whereas the Raiders have one of the best opening day Defenses. On the flip side, both teams struggled the other side of the ball. With the Jets D having holes all over and the Raiders O having more miscues than a drunk guy at a Benidorm karaoke bar.

One thing is for sure. The Jets are looking at this game with one eye on the NCAA season and the prospects coming into the league next year, where they will surely be looking to address this D. Because the O looks like it has the potential to develop into one of the most frightening units in the league
