Rookie Question - Free up some Cap Space Empty Rookie Question - Free up some Cap Space

Post by FloMadden Sun Jul 01, 2012 11:23 am

Hey all, this will be my first season with you guys and i am very much looking forward to it, got a question though:

I think I screwed up with the capspace, I signed half of my players back and now only have about 600k capspace left... I have to sign the draftpicks, which will be a problem, and my kicker akers is also not under contract...

what can I do to free up cap space? should have thought about that earlier i guess Wink

Most people will release 1 or 2 players to free up some cap space. For instance if you have an ageing expensive player or extra cover in a certain position, then choose which you can do without. Tough choices that we all have to go through! Smile

Hi and welcome to the League.

In my opinion you must Cut some Players. I think you can Cut players with a One Year Deal without a cap-Penalty.

Look at your roster and Cut Non-Starter-Player for more caproom.

But im not the expert for cap and xfn.

I think last year first rounders were about 2.5-1 million per year depending on where you picked. 2nd rounders were between 1.2mill and 800k per year. The rest of the picks are between 400k-800k. So if you want to signall 7 picks then you will probably need about $6 million in cap space.

Looking at your roster I'd cut one of Gore or Hunter. You really don't need 2 RB's that are on that kind of money

thank you for all the replies!

yes I thought of that, too.. probably not that good of an idea to put that much money into the RB position
