Re: SMLE Draft Expert Season 27 Mock Draft
Commentary
Pick | Team | Remarks |
1 | Bears | The Trubisky Project is likely over in Chicago, does he stay on as backup or get traded? Do they give him one more chance and trade out of this pick for a king's ransom? Bramlet is by far the No1 player in this draft. |
2 | Raiders | The Raiders have a couple of holes but their coach has been salivating so much over this MLB for months that it's almost a done deal. The combine was the only missing piece of Madden's puzzle and he turned in a corker! |
3 | Seahawks | The Seahawks are the worst team next season, the have needs on OL, FS, CB, TE, HB, DE, LB, but I think they'll surprise everyone and build for the future with HB Hardwick as a Lightning-Lightning tandem with Perry. |
4 | Jags (Browns) | The Jaguars need a QB to compete, Bortles got it done at times but “Bootleg” Bundren really puts them over the edge as a super dynamic playmaker complimenting a heavy hitting run game. |
5 | Colts | The Colts have a few holes on D but their offense looks in good shape now. They really need CB but Gates is just too good a prospect to pass up with Hooker covering the other side of the field. Watch out AFC South passers. |
6 | Browns (Jaguars) | The Browns really need a RT but Turenne really fits their scheme and provides an absolutely thumping presence up the middle. AFC North just got a bit more Black n Blue. |
7 | Dolphins | The Dolphins are in full rebuild with a superbowl winning coach now at the helm. They need a QB and this legendary class has plenty, Corliss has the talent over Stuvaints and potential over Schilling. |
8 | Chargers | This pick could go RT but with Rivers goofy motion goofing more with age the Chargers look to his successor with Stuvaints. He needs a bit of work but has the potential to keep the Chargers electrified in years to come. |
9 | Bills | This pick could also go RT but I think the Bills go with workout warrior Spence. His presence makes the Bills a lockdown D against the pass, it's a shame they just can't stop the run. |
10 | Packers (Saints) | The Packers need to recapture their superbowl form with a high pressure D. Clay Matthews is gone but Peck's pro day just shot him into the first round. A super fast speed rusher to give the NFC North fits. |
11 | Packers | Back to back picks on D, Phillips compliments HaHa Dix to cover deep and buys new pick Peck time to get the sack. This pick could go OL but the prospect of a shitdown D is too juicy. |
12 | Panthers | The Panthers prefer a mauling OL but this slight drop by Saulsberry is the in the Panthers favour. They get a replacement for the disastrous Kalil contract and Cam Newton doesn't break his back every match. |
13 | Redskins | The Redskins would've likely gone QB but the 4 better than Bradford/Smith are off the board so they shore up the line the Briggs. He's a pure pass blocker to protect an old QB but don't expect him to bully the D-Line. |
14 | Giants | The Giants might look to LB with Bellanca but OL is a bigger need. LT Daniels brings some stability to the OL of a young future superstar QB. He's not a mauler for Barkley but he's got talent. |
15 | Titans | The Titans reach slightly here, they could go OL but getting a pass rusher is a big need. Ingram is predicted early 2nd so could sneak up draft boards having shown some great college tape combining quickness and finesse. |
16 | Jets | The Jets find a speed/size playmaker for the developing QB Darnold. Daniels isn't the most sound catching TE this draft but he's by far the best athlete which will create nice mismatches for the QB to use. |
17 | Chiefs | The Chiefs need some inside OL help but Reggie Beard had such a good combine that the Chiefs will be tempted here. The coach likes to gamble with aggressive safeties and Beard fits that mould, |
18 | 49ers | The 49ers are building a defensive monster, they've got a great DL and built an awesome LB core. Their safeties are fine and one CB has it locked down...but they've got a hole at the other side, DeLoach solves that. |
19 | Eagles | The Eagles lost HoF LT Peters this offseason and so look to Casey to fill those big boots. Casey doesn't shine much at anything but doesn't have any holes either. |
20 | Cardinals | The Cardinals got abused by Donald for a record breaking sack game! Ayers is a bit of a reach but the OL start to run out, projected early 2nd he'll be tasked with protecting another season against Donald. |
21 | Ravens | The Ravens signed Blount but he doesn't last a full game usually, Russel comes in as a great receiving HB for Jackson to check down to and spell big boy Blount when needed. |
22 | Lions | The Lions never quite replaced Ebron and so get the most sound catching TE in the draft with Cromartie. He doesn't wow all the time but he's got safe hands and decent speed. |
23 | Buccaneers | In this situation I'd expect Rogers to move over to guard for the Bucs and he brings some decent strength and nasty hand punch to an offense that's got very few holes. |
24 | Texans | The Texans got decent production out of HoF Gates but he's now hung up the cleats and Diaz is the pick to replace. He's got great hands but isn't the speed matchup nightmare like the other Tes this round. |
25 | Rams | The Rams reach slightly here with this early 2nd round pick but Sherrell is a good pass protector for a team that loves to pass deep. He's undersized for the G spot which limits his stock. |
26 | Bengals | The Bengals reach slightly here with this early 2nd round LB but Wallace has been creeping up draft boards after a great combine and the Bengals need an LB to stop the run in the AFC North. |
27 | Vikings | The Vikings have nothing behind Diggs and Thielen if one of them gets injured. The Vikings have needs on OL and could replace the slowing Sendejo but Flair brings speed in the slot and a good insurance policy to the Vikings O. |
28 | Broncos | The Broncos really needed a boost at TE but they're all gone. They settle for the future WR to replace DT and Sanders as they age. Rogers has decent athleticism and the best hands in the draft. |
29 | Falcons | The Falcons need some meat on the DL. They've got tonnes of speed but when Grady Jarret went down in the playoffs they were exposed slightly. Buenning might not be the sexy pick but he's got that hole plugged. |
30 | Patriots | The needs for the Patriots could have easily been QB, QB, QB. They have few holes but there's no concrete plan to replace the GOAT. Schilling is a limited system QB but he's deadly at short range. |
31 | Steelers | The Steelers have a few needs on D and very limited cap space but that didn't stop them getting to the Superbowl. Parks is a decent guard with limited potential but comes with good strength and ability to plug and play. |
32 | Cowboys | The Superbowl Winning Cowboys are used to picking at this spot... They reach slightly for power OT Wyatt who's an early 2nd to fit the system as they know you can never have too many 1st round O-linemen. |

Re: SMLE Draft Expert Season 27 Mock Draft
S28 Draft Awards
Best Draft: Colts - 79Ovr Power beast RG Turenne, 77ovr Star user SS Beard, 82ovr Steal catching HB Russel, 74ovr Run Stuff MLB Wallace, 71ovr Star QB-friendly TE Denney all culminated in an awesome draft haul for the Colts. Made more impressive by the fact that the Coach was only signed on Draft Day.
Worst Draft: Rams - 75ovr RG Warren was a reach for need, as were 71ovr LT Sampson and RT Norman, 6'8 Quick dev beast TE George and 77ovr shifty HB Lowery were slight shining moments on a relatively average draft. The Rams might be set up for the future when their cap crash hits but with a dying need at C and MLB they didn't draft to win now.
Most likely to Bust: Jaguars - QB Corey Whitely, the 74ovr Speedster QB isn't a bad player, he's just sat behind a veteran in Bortles and No6 pick in Bootleg Bundren. I expect Bortles to be shipped off but he'll only see the field for the next 4 seasons if it's gone catastrophically wrong for the Jags.
Most likely to Boom: Dolphins - QB Frank Corliss, the appointment of a Superbowl winning coach meant a culture change for the Dolphins. Enter Corliss, he plays to the coach's strength with a great deep ball and underneath accuracy. Expect Corliss to be an early ROTY contender.
Steal of the Draft: Texans - HB Tahj Hardwick, as predicted the HBs dropped all draft in favour of needy OL, legendary QBs and elite pass rushers. A few were great steals but the No3 ranked player in the draft for talent dropped all the way to the second round and the Texans get a great weapon.
Reach of the Draft: Bengals - QB Clay Lang, it's not often I call a 3rd round pick a reach, but at 66ovr in a legendarily loaded QB class it doesn't look great. Not to mention the Bengals double dipped at QB in the 5th and came out with 71ovr Sheard who looks like Daltons replacement next season.
Solid Pick: Jaguars - QB "Bootleg" Bundren, it was meant to be the mega trade to Pick4 for the 80ovr Star escape artist QB, but the late arrival of the Colts coach changed drafting strategy completely, so the Jags waited to see if their saviour dropped to 6.... And he did!!! A solid pick because by a twist of fate it didn't cost the farm!
Daring Pick: Chiefs - DT Margito Stanley, there's always one who risks a bad story or reaches for the stars... 76ovr Run Stuff DT Stanley was it, a 5th round projection taken in the first and anchoring the Chiefs 34 for the rest of the year.

Re: SMLE Draft Expert Season 27 Mock Draft
I got 9 guesses right haha.
Bears - Bramlet
Raiders - Madden
Jaguars - Bundren
Dolphins - Corliss
Packers - Peck and Phillips
Jets - Daniels
Patriots - Schilling
Cardinals - Ayers
These ones were so close
Browns - Take one of top 2 OL
Redskins, Panthers, Giants, Rams - Take an OL
Broncos - Take a TE if there's one left
Maybe people should trust the SMLE Draft Expert's Hot Picks......?
