SMLE Draft Expert Season 24 Mock Draft
Here we have it! The SMLE Draft Expert Mock Draft!
Pick | Team | Needs | Pick | Name | Remarks |
1 | Broncos | QB, QB, QB!!! | QB | Toby Dyson | No one is saying Rebuild, the Bronco's are reloading with the crucial missing piece of the puzzle at QB. Dyson is expected to be a superstar and the team could be playoff bound if the D can find it's No Fly Zone form once again. |
2 | Jets | CB, S, OT | CB | Rashaud Mclean | All you had to do to beat the Jets was outscore them and wait for Mili to fumble the game away. With some pieces already added to the front 7the Jets address their absent pass defense with this pick. Murmurs of Revis 2.0 are already floating around the stadium. |
3 | Jaguars (From Lions) | QB, CB, LB, WR | QB | Mario Lang | The word "bust" is being uttered about Trubisky in hindsight making the Bears go from fool to genius, but with him now in San Diego the Jaguars start the rebuild with Lang. Will they be singing Auld Lang Syne in the new season? |
4 | Texans | OT, S, LB | OT | J. T. Lewis | The Texans D is stacked and ready to win but the offense needs to buy time in the pocket and open better run lanes. Lewis comes in as Brown's replacement and the best OT in the draft. The Texans are gunning for the playoffs once again. |
5 | Bears | OT, WT, CB | CB | Sheldon Fort | The Bears went offense last draft and landed a great QB but they go D this draft. All of the CBs flashed at the scouting combine and Fort was no exception. The Bears need to stop someone on defense and Fort has the athleticism to lock down any WR. |
6 | Jaguars (From Chargers) | CB, LB, WR | LB | Riley Acho | Despite being a tad older (some scouts say mature) Acho has the talent to be a top 10 pick as comparisons to Ray Lewis float around. Can he be as good as Jack who left town after the Lions trade? |
7 | Jets (From Rams) | OT, LB, S | LB | Deandre Waters | The Jets are going D again in order to stop the rest of the AFC East. They need a legitimate threat at the MLB spot. Waters will get the defensive juices flowing! |
8 | Raiders | S, OT, HB | DE | Allen Mcbriar | The Raiders almost lost Mack this offseason but he opted to resign; that made the office poop themselves when they realised their cupboard is bare. Mcbriar was slipping in the draft on technique until he put in an excellent combine to secure his stock. |
9 | Ravens | QB, WR, CB | DE/DT | Gilbert Moody | The Ravens picked up in the second half of the season after a coaching shuffle but it took them out of contention for the top QBs so they continue to build the defense. Moody is angry and hard hitting and helps clamp down on that AFC North run game. |
10 | Jaguars (From Titans) | CB, DE, WR | WR | Aundry Bolston | Following the blockbuster A-Rob trade to the Titans, the Jaguars now have a big hole to fill. Bolston moves up after a decent combine and look for him and Westbrook to take the tops of defense and give Fournette space in the second level. |
11 | Jaguars (From Packers) | CB, DE, G | CB | Taylor Frost | The Jags D has been stripped in this anticipated trade. Frost may not be the athlete's that Fort and Mclean are but he'll still give opposing QBs the chills about throwing his way, anticipate him to lock down the WR2 spot. |
12 | Giants | QB, TE, CB | OT | Conner Pasztor | The surprise cut of longtime Charger River's after the Trubisky trade was the Giants benefit. They now need to lock down the blindside so that old man Rivers doesn't get killed in the tough NFC East. |
13 | Seahawks | OL, DE, CB2 | DE | Shundrez Reeves | The Seahawks lost Avril in the offseason but he was slowing down anyway. They resigned Clark but Bennet is getting on a bit too. Reeves comes in as the Superman! A lightning quick pass rusher with well developed moves to ease the burden on the Legion of Boom |
14 | Falcons | WR, G, DE | DE | Thomas Bacon | The Falcons are bringing home the Bacon! Strapped for Cap and too much talent wanting a payday, the Falcons shore up the pass rush to keep them competing in the NFC East. |
15 | Redskins | WR, OL, DT | WR | Morgan Roehl | The Redskins were in a lot of close games and don't have too many major holes. Hill gives Cousins another target to try and outscore the rest of the NFC East. A great combination of natural hands and athletics, Roehl gives the Redskins a consistent target. |
16 | Cardinals | QB, WR, DE | WR | Joe Hill | The Cardinals are still shopping for a QB with some veteran names in the mix. In preparation for a new passer they pick Hill who has the purest catching hands in the draft, he might not wow on combine numbers but the Cardinals need a No2 WR. |
17 | Eagles | OT, CB, LB | LB | Dalton Erickson | The Eagles were battered by some decent coaches in the NFC East and Zeke the freak isn’t going anywhere. Erickson comes in with shades of a more athletic Chad Greenway as the run D gets shored up for another season battling the Cowboys storm. |
18 | Colts | OL, WR, S | WR | Kristian Quinn | Who's catching passes for the Colts outside of the No1 WR?? There's no TE, no catching HB and no depth. The Quinn-Jet had a dissapointing combine 40 but still looked okay in other drills to be a No2 WR keeping Luck happy. |
19 | Bengals | OL, CB, S | G | Dustin Clemens | The Bengals run game managed with Mixon beating the opposition but the pass game struggled as it was under constant pressure. Clemens isn't a perfect pass blocker but brings grit and a cleaner pocket to the Bengals who are eyeing the postseason again. |
20 | Steelers | S, DL, TE | SS | Elijiah Steele | This is destiny, who else better to be a Steeler than Steele?? An insane athlete who'll needed to be coached up a little, but this is the missing piece to push the Steelers past the deep bombing Browns in the AFC North. |
21 | Saints | TE, QB, DB | LB | Hugh Vermiglio | The Saints let Stephon Anthony go despite slowly developing into a decent player, they have to fight the Falcons, Panthers and Bucs who all feature explosive offense. Vermiglio comes in as an athlete with decent talent as the Saints Saviour on D. |
22 | Jaguars | DE, G, S | DE | Nick Ledyard | Yannick was traded so a new DE is needed. Ledyard is great at the point of attack. He might not flash with speed but he's got a J.J. Watt feel about him. He could potentially shift inside in the Nickel Package should Campbell regress. |
23 | Buccaneers | HB, OL, CB | HB | Zach Frederick | The Bucs surprised everyone last season under a new coach, taking the NFC South! But the run game stalled leaving the pass game exposed. Frederick comes in as a giant battering ram to keep those chains moving. |
24 | Cowboys (From Dolphins) | LB, S, DT | LB | Lance Heckendorf | The Cowboys have a big hole at MLB and Coach Eternal loves him some user lurk. Heckendorf is a workout warrior with lacking technique but the Cowboys are good at developing players to fit key roles and make big time plays. |
25 | Panthers | WR, DE, S | TE | Christian Ashley | The Panthers fixed their DL in a blockbuster signing and managed to retain Olsen but he's set to retire. With a poor WR cast but powerful run game, the Panthers go Mumphrey for a great short range target and play the slow and steady game with a 2 TE set. |
26 | Falcons (From Bills) | DL, TE, G | T/G | Heath Walsh | The Falcons were in contract hell but at least managed to retain Matty Ice but now they need to fix his pocket. Walsh put in a subpar combine and his draft stock is based entirely on "Potential" but he's also an ideal lineman to shift inside. |
27 | Patriots | LB, DE, QB | TE | Ashley Mumphrey | Tom Brady Soldiers on, as does the Gronk (just about). A host of WR left for free agency and the Pats look to lean on their run game more. Mumphrey adds a great 2nd target in the short range passing game with Gronk, Cooks and Edelmen. |
28 | Vikings | OL, DE, CB | OT | Lamard Cobourne | The Vikings continue to look at the OL. Dotson did admirably but continues to age and Remmers is still a liability. Cobourne comes in to compete for a spot, but maybe isn't a starter straight away. Competition is essential and Cook makes any line look good. |
29 | Chiefs | WR, DL, S | HB | Dion Edwards | Last years rookie runner did fairly well but the Chiefs need to find a spell back, enter Edwards as change of pace back. |
30 | 49ers | S, CB, OL | HB | Gordon Marsh | Not really a pick for need but the top HB in the draft falls to the end of the first amid some worries about his long college career and wear and tear. He's got the physicals to mix it up with Hyde and is more of a luxury pick to go along with a well developing offense. |
31 | Browns | CB, WR, LB | G | Morgan Pitts/ Austin Lee | The Browns have few needs having draft and developed great players in the last few years. They're limited for depth on the OL but have some great starters. Pitts gives them the insurance they need in case the injury. |
32 | Dolphins (From Cowboys) | G, TE, S | TE | Deandre Murrey | The Dolphins managed to get some good use out of Julius Thomas with the trade with the Jags a few seasons ago, but father time always wins. Murrey gives a steady replacement to help Sophemore Martinek continue his ROTY form. |

If you zoom internet explorer out they should appear, or copy and paste the table back into excel.

Any way you can copy and paste the text again. I can't read the right hand side of the comments. Zooming in or out hasn't fixed it.

Hahahahahaha, careful with the + and - button, that's not zoom, that's reputation... If you ctrl+click wheel out it appears but it also copies and pastes to excel okay. I don't know how to adjust the width to display.

Re: SMLE Draft Expert Season 24 Mock Draft
Bump for post combine update... Zill reached his trade limit too.
Re: SMLE Draft Expert Season 24 Mock Draft
Well Congratulations, are relatively quick draft but a bit wild on the players...!!! Have we all got weird headaches now? (The rule is "if you weren't there I wont vote you in")
Anyway, the SMLE Draft Expert awards are as follows:
Best Draft: Eagles - DE Reeves in the first (81ovr),, C Torres, LG Koyack & LT Hadnot in the second (68quick, 76, 78) and DT West in the 3rd (likely 78ovr once moved) the Eagles got value out of nowhere and retooled their front 7 and OL.
Worst Draft: 49ers - RT Walsh (72ovr) in the first, super athlete WR Greer (67ovr) in the second, they pulled it back with some decent later round picks but that 1 & 2 looks tough with Walsh's "Potential" disappearing fast.
Most likely to Bust: Jaguars - WR Audrey Bolston (77ovr, slow), when a player like A-Rob goes packing you want to replace them with a blue chip WR. Bolston comes in with great physicals but he's injury prone and likely won't develop much further. He can't even return kicks like Ray Sears last year, earning a spot onto the team slowly. He's good, but how often will he be injured, not develop and get targets taken away by Westbrook and Fournette with a rookie passer targeting him?
Most likely to Boom: Browns - HB Rodriguez Saunders (73ovr), the speedy Gonzales struck gold on the Browns with a great OL and is expected to spell Crowell on passing plays and outside runs. Expect some home run TDs AND he has 92 KR so will be an awesome ST contributer with 94 speed.
Steal of the Draft: Cowboys - QB Chase Lorig (72ovr, quick), the Bills made a play on pick 13 for Lorig after the Giants and Ravens passed but the Cowboys lucked out with Dak's cheap replacement all the way from No8 to No24. He'll have a top knotch OL, 3 amazing fast WRs and Zeke running out the back. Sleeper ROTY pick.
Reach of the Draft: Bills - WR Tevin Powell (63ovr), in the middle of the second round the Bills thought they were landing Megatron but actually got Stephen Hill. He can catch, he's a super athlete but he can't run routes or beat press.
Solid Pick: Chiefs - DE Franklin Billups (76 Superstar), with a 3rd round billing, Billups was creeping up draft boards based on great technique and game film. The Chiefs replace Tamba Hali and look scary on the DL.
Daring Pick: Bengals - MLB Willis Richards (79 Quick), everyone expected Richards to be the bonehead of the draft and all the other LBs to be darlings. Well a series of fantastic team interviews (and the other LBs flaws surprisingly now on show), Richards was a daring pick but the Bengals are being rewarded by a reformed character. Very daring at pick 1-16.

Re: SMLE Draft Expert Season 24 Mock Draft
No worries, just to explain, best/worst draft is largely based on rounds 1 to 3 and you can't be up for consideration with my Bills/Bears rule from last year - If you've got a bazillion round 1 to 3 picks, it's not a "best class" it's blunder bussing the draft class unless almost every pick is a star. So Jets & Jags were out the running (good classes but had multiple top10 picks).
Re: SMLE Draft Expert Season 24 Mock Draft
Wow I got quite a few of those awards right??!!
Eagles went on to have a perfect season with that class.
49ers struggled a bit.
Jags WR muffed punt returns and was okay in the end.
Browns HB got an instant week 1 dev upgrade and was amazing.
Cowboys won the superbowl with 10 passes a game.
Bills gave up on that WR and drafted another No1 overall after the Julio trade.
Chiefs were stacked at DE and everyone was a sack master.
Bengals LB did alright!
