Re: SMLE Draft Expert S33 Mock Draft
The Remarks
Pick | Team | Remarks |
1 | Raiders | The Coach is on holiday so the intern has been left to make the pick. Based on team needs this could be QB Carter, CB Dunne or another DT going no1 in Teague. |
2 | Rams (from Lions) | The Rams need help in the trenches but they traded for Akiem Hicks so they can double down on DL or pick up a LT? No2 pick on a bully bruiser for Gurley. |
3 | Seahawks | The Seahawks have many holes to fill and whilst they desperately need DL help I bet the prospect of a Heisman speedster is just to much in Hoskins. |
4 | Giants | To quote the coach “this team is a mess”... so they need to go for impact positions first in order to compete. Pace has a scary ceiling but his floor is so high with all the sacks. |
5 | Falcons | Matt Ryan is gone, and if the coach is leaving his assistant to draft then this pick could be Brady Carter. He's not a fit for style but the draft lacks depth at QB. |
6 | Browns ( From Bucs) | You know nothing SMLE Draft Expert... winter is coming in Cleveland. I think I know this pick but the curve ball is the Browns going super power run game with Chubb & Co. |
7 | Broncos | Von Miller was traded in favour of getting Trubisky a weapon in Cooper. They need to reload the D and moving to a 43 and Pace sets the...well... Pace. |
8 | Jets | Darnold needs time, Bell needs lanes, the rushers are dwindling. RT Tuck is an athletic freak who can roam all over the field flattening guys. They |
9 | Steelers | The Coach doesn't like TB very much and this is the last stop for Brady Carter. If Carter and Hoskins don't drop here I expect the coach to go OL and Harrison is a great fit here. |
10 | Jaguars | Not the sexiest pick but Rhodes has the potential and skillset to help the run heavy lightning pass game this coach prefers. |
11 | Bills | This D is already scary but age has sapped the OLB rusher spot. McFadden comes with a nasty streak and takes over ROLB to make the D even better. |
12 | Broncos (From Bengals) | The Broncos coach doubles down on D with the selection of human missile Scott. There's questions about his LB IQ but that combine was just juicy! |
13 | Titans | Ecker drops out of the top10 in this scenario due to the legendary big boy DL class. I believe the titans could target a rusher if he falls or a CB in Dunne or Melvin. |
14 | Dolphins (From Cardinals) | If Watts drops this far then it's a steal. He's got a great combine, high ceiling and is a very clean technician vs the run game. He isn't a pure pass rusher but he's still ace. |
15 | Ravens | The Coach is MIA right now and so the assistant is likely making the draft picks. Dunn's fall stops here as the Ravens can't pass on a top5 projection. |
16 | Bears | Half the DL got traded away so the Bears need to restock the trenches. Matt Wallace comes in able to play the NT or the 34DE. |
17 | Seahawks (from Cowboys) | The Seahawks DE is that bad I full expect them to double dip on a rookie pair in order to put pressure on the other competitive NFC west coaches. |
18 | Dolphins | First they picked one side of the trench, no they pick the other and Hunt comes in a as a great run blocker mountain of a man and hope he develops his Pass-Pro. |
19 | Eagles | Oh wow, the constant bleed of the Eagles has left a huge hole at deep safetywho can Reid the QBs eyes. The No1 safety dropping to 19 is a blessing. |
20 | Lions | New coach, new scheme, and this coach prefers a run heavy scheme so OL is essential. I think Slade drops on his lower strength but would be a solid pick here. |
21 | Chargers | The Coach moved on from “Goofy” and picked up Matty Ice instead. He could pick a QB here but CB Melvin is too tasty a treat to miss. |
22 | Bucs (From Texans) | I think the Bucs trading back was a sign they're happy rolling with Bigger D!ck Nick and so they'll protect him with the OL pick of LeBlanc here. |
23 | Bills (From Saints) | SS Pryor is still in town but he's not looking the same, FS Morant moves over and solidifies one of the best DB corps in the league with the Bills. |
24 | Bucs (From Panthers) | Now the Bucs got an OL they go D next and take a speedster project safety in Peele in the hope he's the next Franklin Arnold. |
25 | Packers | This is Rodgers last run before the arm gives way and so the packers need WR help after Green left town. Lloyd is a quick strike weapon in the short game. |
26 | Chiefs | The Chiefs really need the HB and if noone bites on Snow this is where he stops his fall. In the meantime Applewhite is still a great prize as a No2 WR for Mahomes. |
27 | Patriots | The Coach traded for Brissett but that's just a stop gap, Sweet has the delectable big arm and all he has to do is throw it towards Josh Gordon. |
28 | Saints (From Redskins) | The Saints got the QB of the future in Allen and now need to surround him with big BIG targets he can't miss... Nash is a big target with sure hands and elite speed. |
29 | Vikings | The Vikings really need a DT but they could also take a pass rusher to replace Griffen. Here they go DT with Hitchcock to secure the run game vs the new SnowLion. |
30 | Browns | The Browns were shopping for a DT of the future but they double down on OL here and go LT Cross ready to boost the an already loaded offense. |
31 | Packers (From 49ers) | This is a bit of a reach but if you're really going for the Rodgers Run then a lightning fast TE really helps. The Seam and C route can't be covered against this speed. |
32 | Colts | What does a loaded team bar MLB do in a draft where pure LB looks meh? They pick up a pass rusher to replace their one year rentals. |

Re: SMLE Draft Expert S33 Mock Draft
Draft Awards
Best Draft - Bears - RT Hunt (78 Star), MLB Cloud9 (67 Norm but great build, see below), DT Hendricks (69 Normal, DT Tanner (67 Normal), HB Warner (64 Star) and 4 other decent backups all made up a very solid draft class. I'd consider Hunt at 16 a steal considering he's the same build as McLendon at No2, HB Warner is a freak 91spd 240lb back and the DL was reloaded with some super quick young talent who'll move to 34DE.
Worst Draft - Browns - It's very hard to judge this award as guys who trade away picks have lots of low overall players. But the Browns started with a lot of picks in the first 3 rounds. The 3 firsts became 2 as they traded to 6 to target RE Ecker who surprisingly went to the Seahawks at No3 which sent the coach into a spin and forced to pick BPA at no6 (see below). This was a good pick for obvious reasons but a bad one also as it's created an overload at WR with OBJ, Landry, Callaway, Higgins and now Hoskins there. The rest of the 1sts and 2nds were used on sub 70ovr players and didn't crack another dev again ( but great backups all over).
Most Likely to Boom - WR Will Hoskins, 76ovr Superstar, Browns - It might seem confusing after the draft review above but with a decent OL, great coach and OBJ taking the best DB on the other side I expect Hoskins to be a great outside threat No2 WR and be the big play guy.
Most Likely to Bust - HB Tony Snow, 78ovr X-Factor, Chargers - How does the best player in the draft who we all knew was going to be a god (and turned out to be the god of gods), who fell to a steal at pick 21, become most likely to bust? On a team with an existing X-Factor HB and a superstar backup with Joystick... that's how. Expect some team to get a good trade deal on HBs.
Steal of the Draft - RE Ellis Pace, 77ovr Normal, Lions - The Lions face a lot of flack for their side of the trade back and then a pash rush demon fell to them at Pick 20. The Eagles almost snapped him up the pick before but in the end the Lions turned pick2 into a Joystick HB, the leagues best punter and a top rookie DE.
Reach of the Draft - QB Wade Fisk, 54ovr Normal, Chargers - With the likes of Kiante Farley (63) Russel Trout (63), Todd Wallner (60) and Jared Carden (60) still on the board and taken in the 4th+ the Chargers used a 3rd round pick on the scrambler who turned out to be a not so great heir unapparant for Matt Ryan. Special Mention to QB Tom George, Falcons, but I think he'll be OK.
Solid Pick - HB Jackie Borum, 63ovr Star, Panthers - They managed to turn the final pick of the 4th round into an sneaky good speedster in Borum. He'll handle kick and punt return duties (87 KR, 94 speed) and at age 21 and star dev will blossom into a good backup behind CMC.
Daring Pick - MLB Oliver Cloud, 67ovr Normal, Bears - There were whispers of an A- A- B+ UDFA MLB floating around draft circles in the week before the draft and the Texans even made several deals in order to move up high in the 2nd round thinking noone else will have noticed. Then blam!!! The Bears take Cloud9 a few picks before the Texans. He might not start straight away in a 34 but a risky pick the likes that only a few coaches make.
