Madden 13 Info
Yesterday Madden 13 info started to get released when they did a webcast discussing the changes to presentation and gameplay.
Here's a nice clip of the new pre-game and announcers from the webcast:
In terms of gameplay there seem to finally be some nice changes to the passing game (more trajectories, no more superman LB one-handed no look INTs, automatic 1,3,5,7 step dropbacks, PA passing that isn't an automatic sack) and defense needs to actually see the ball to make plays.

Re: Madden 13 Info
I watched the whole webcast at easports.com/madden and I have to say that finally I'm impressed at what they are doing. The main point from the video for me is that they have over doubled the team making the game and it really shows, there are so many game play improvements they are making. One of my favourites is the new defense ai that cover realistically instead of being phychic and knowing the routes, it really looks great in action. Looks like it's gonna be a huge improvement all around.

Re: Madden 13 Info
Yeah I like the improvements to D too. Really sounds like they're moving in the right direction. It actually makes it hard to play 12 now knowing that so many of my gripes with the gameplay are supposed to be fixed for 13.
I just hope that this connected careers thing means they're making some big improvements to franchise. And I really hope that the second gameplay feature that they're hyping will "revolutionize the way you play Madden" isn't Kinect related.

Re: Madden 13 Info
I always thought the best way to play any computer sports would be to actually 'throw' the ball, or swing a club, or make a 40 yard pass to Lionel Messi - rather than just the plain movement required for Wii, Kinect etc.
Technology is there - that would be mega!
I love the idea of 'teaching the player' not to manually control the QB after snap. That said, the shotgun examples in the video show QB's dropping back a further 5 steps!
Be very interesting to see how the defensive AI works - last thing we want is to go backwards (M11) and have 120 point games!!!

Re: Madden 13 Info
Someone broke info early about 30 minutes before EA's press conference at E3:
"Rich Grisham talks with Producer Victor Lugo about the all-new Infinity Engine, a powerful new physics systems that changes the way players interact with each other on the field. They talk about how it came to be, the first time they started to see it in action, the reaction from the community, and much more."

FINALLY!!! Physics in Madden
Hope its implemented better than NBA Elite or FIFA though. Can't wait to see the vids.

Re: Madden 13 Info
For the first time in a long time Madden is finally looking like a proper full on NFL game that it has been lacking this generation.
I'm intrigued to know exactly how the connected careers will work, the only example given is that that you can retire your superstar and start another without restarting the season and they say offline and online franchise will work together with superstar. How on earth will this work? Sounds very cool though, Online franchise definitely needs a complete do over and it looks like we won't be disappointed.
On a related note, what happens when Madden 13 comes out? Will everyone go out and get it and we start the league over? I'm certain once I've played M13 that it will be impossible to go back to M12.

Re: Madden 13 Info
Connected Careers basically combines offline franchise, online franchise and superstar mode into one. You can pick whether to be a coach, which is the same as what we do right now (it allows you to contol all players on your team as well as GM functions: draft, free agency etc.), or be a player which only allows you to control your player. I think you're questions are answered in this webcast:
Madden Gameplay 2 and CCM Webcast
Also, when Madden 13 comes out we will have to get the new game and start the league over. For the league everyone should be a coach, you can pick your team's normal coach or create yourself if you want. We will pick our teams in a draft some time in August. The draft order will be based on how long each one of us has been in SML.

haha guys don´t get sucked into the hype....
Wait untill we pluck it in and realize that the new advanced superstar cpu logic fires all 1st round picks in order to carry two punters or something similar.
Personally I am still waiting for the bomb sound on big plays.... man takes me back

Re: Madden 13 Info
Thanks for the link brza. I watched the videos and read the blogs and after reading
THIS I have to say my mind is blown! If it works as well as it sounds it is going to be awesome. It is impossible not to get excited by it, one of my favourite games ever was NFL Head Coach 09 because it tried to be realistic and reflect how the NFL really works and connected careers sounds like it's taking a lot of inspiration from it. My favourite part is how player overall ratings differ between users depending on your schemes and what traits you put more importance on. That was an awesome idea in Head Coach but imagine how that will play out in an online franchise!
....is it August yet?

Re: Madden 13 Info
This all looks awesome. Loads of info to process there...be interesting to see how it all works out. But looks really promising for the future of the franchise.
The overhaul in staff EA did 18 months ago looks like a shrewd move in my book now.

Re: Madden 13 Info
They actually released a complete excel sheet with all QB ratings today:
http://www.easports.com/madden-nfl/news/article/complete-qb-ratings-in-madden-nfl-13
Not the stretched out ratings I was hoping for. No way Eli and Roethlisberger should be that close to Brees, Brady and Rodgers. There should be at least a 5 point gap between the elite 3 and the rest. Eli and Ben are good QBs that play great in the clutch but they are not consistent enough to warrant 97 and 95 ratings. Just because they won multiple SBs shouldn't automatically make them have better accuracy than they really do.
And they made RG3 an absolute BEAST! 97 THP and the fifth highest deep accuracy in the game at 88. Not to mention 93 SPD. Not looking forward to facing that twice a year. I think RG3 will be legit in real life but those ratings are a bit high and would make him a top 5 QB right now if you take out AWR which is meaningless. He should be fun to build a franchise around. All I'm asking is please don't abuse the deep dropbacks, instant sprintouts and scrambles.

Re: Madden 13 Info
You gotta be kidding me!!!!
Jay Cutler's deep throw is 77
Matt Stafford is 88 (and 99 throw power compared to Cutler's 98)
I thought M12 was bad with Cutlers deep throw of 78 and now he's WORSE!
I traded Cutler 2 seasons ago because all through M12 his deep throws were overthrown the vast majority of the time. Do they watch the same NFL as us i wonder?
Whatever next - Matt Forte 85 speed!!!
Bears fans interest removed in one shot dammit!!!

Flacco's deep throw is the same at 77. Which is strange as he has told everyone he is the best QB in the NFL

Re: Madden 13 Info
Offline franchise, Online Franchise, Superstar Mode = Connected Careers
The biggest misunderstanding with Connected Careers (CC) is that Franchise mode has been removed. It hasn't. It has just been replaced/renamed with Connected Careers.
In CC, you can play as a coach or as a player. As a coach it's like regular Franchise mode. As a player it's "Superstar mode".
It's exactly the same online as well. Commish creates the league and sets all the rules. This upcoming Online Franchise is gonna be exactly the same as Offline Franchise.
Connected Careers is the biggest installment since Online Franchise in Madden 10. It's a good thing.

Full RB Ratings have been released:
http://www.easports.com/madden-nfl/news/article/complete-rb-ratings-in-madden-nfl-13
Can't argue much with the top 5. Although I think AP should be rated lower after coming off a serious ACL injury. I think it will be tough for him to match his past performances this season. He looked to have a pretty big hitch in his step in the few practice clips they've shown of him so far this preseason.

Steven Jackson once again gets no love from EA. 86 speed? 87 accel? Worst of all, 67 elusiveness! I know I'm a homer but jeez, for his size he has pretty good shake and bake but I guess EA never actually watched any Rams games... can't blame them though.

Re: Madden 13 Info
crazy shit notorious.
Best back in the nfl hands down. Which other back rushes for 1000+ yards a season with 8 defenders stacked in the box.

Re: Madden 13 Info
I feel bad for him, he has carried a sorry ass organisation since 2006 and the Rams have failed with numerous coaches and front offices to get him any help whatsoever. Yet the numbers he has amassed with like you say, 8 or 9 in the box is staggering. Now it looks like we may be heading in the right direction and he is coming to the end of his career. The rumours of an extension so he can retire a Ram is good news though, I absolutely love players like Holt, Bruce, Faulk, Warner, Pace etc but SJ is my favourite Ram hands down. You put any RB on the Rams the years he's endured and i'd bet they don't come close to his numbers. Dudes a beast.
But 67 elusiveness? Fuck you EA!

Re: Madden 13 Info
i disagree jensua... i think AP is hands down the best hb in the league... and he gets more 8-9 players in the box than any player in the league, but players like forte, cj, mccoy are all round better cus they can catch the ball and are better blockers.....
but yea players like sj39 always get royally screwed cus they play for bad teams like the rams..
sj is an absolute beast and def deserves better than that shit..
